I finished the installation of the two AirTex fuel pumps yesterday. I
have only driven 60 miles so far but will be leaving Denver tomorrow
morning for Michigan and I will report my experience with them after a
couple days of driving.
I took a lot of pictures of the installation for a presentation at
GMCMI's convention at duQuoin later this month.
I believe this will eliminate any vapor lock problems on the suction
side and improve priming problems when switching from one tank to the
other.
Nice to eliminate the fuel selector valve and any rubber hoses from
above my tanks. For the fuel supply from the tanks to the TBI I have
steel lines all the way except for a 6" piece of hose at my filter. I
will replace that with steel later but I have to make some very close
bends in a 3/8" short steel line to do so.
My vent lines and my Onan pickup are also steel on top of and to the
sides of the tanks. They connect to short rubber vent elines to the
vapor / liquid separator and to the steel vent line that runs to the
fuel cap.
These are easily reached to replace the rubber if necessary.
I was able to fill my tanks with about 40 gallons last night without
it burping and coming back out the fill spout.
