For those who are not able to get to Duquoin early, but are still willing to drive through the rest of Illinois enroute (which I realize is likely a very small subset of this group)... The annual Route 66 Mother Road Festival is occurring in Springfield IL September 24-26. That is the Fri-Sat-Sun preceding the GMCMI convention, but unfortunately does conflict with the GMCES event.
Saturday night there is a "burnout" contest. It might be kind of fun to watch some brave soul (who doesn't mind ruining a pair of tires) take a GMC into that.
At this time I plan on arriving in Duquoin early and will likely miss the Route 66 festival. But for those interested, it usually is a pretty interesting display of classic vehicles.
Springfield is about 156 miles north of Duquoin.
