G'day,
Helen and I pulled out of the Coop on Tuesday afternoon and headed south to
Port St. Lucie for a visit with David and Jan Greenberg. I wanted to meet
the guy that despite not having a GMC still devoted a significant portion of
his time to keeping up the registry.
Our schedule slipped a fair amount as the heat and rain "stopped play" at
the Coop fairly often while I was there. I kept postponing our visit and
felt bad about that. When we arrived on Tuesday afternoon we were met by
David driving a really neat golf cart that looked like an early Mustang! He
led us back to his home where we parked on a beautiful driveway with a
compass rose in it. I thought to myself "sure hope Jason and I fixed the
engine and trans oil leaks!"
We had a great baked fish dinner prepared by Jan and talked about our
experiences in the far East. David and Jan lived in Hong Kong when he was
working for IBM and so did I when I was a rep for Hamilton Standard. He also
traveled all around China as I did.
Naturally after dinner David and I talked about GMC's and that was enough to
drive the "girls" off! He filled me in on some "stuff" about The Blue Streak
that the PO hadn't told me about.
It had been a long day and I was beat so we all turned in at around 9:30 or
so.
During the night we had a hell of a rainstorm which was good news for me, NO
LEAKS!
I got up Wednesday morning and the first thing I did was look under the
engine / trans and NOT A DROP of oil! YES! I'll detail what Jason and I did
in a separate message.
We did a BIG food shop in the morning and had a nice lunch at a local
restaurant that Jan recommended.
We decided to head for Key West after lunch and made it as far as Homestead.
More tomorrow.
Regards,
Rob M.

Rob, we went there once, nice but expensive. The boss liked "Kellys" restraunt. Owned by Kelly Migillis. {top gun}. The only camp ground on KW is not very nice. Spaces are close. Very close. Only saw a fhoto and a testimonial. We stayed close, one island over. Told the girl at the desk we wanted 3 nites. She rang it up and said "300 dollars". I stated "3 not 10 nites". She responded ,that is 3 nites, 85 per PLUSS taxes = 100 per nite. Ouch, the KOA farther up is cheaper. The 100 a nite spot was on the water and the end of the runway for the NAS. Very cool. They also had night security. Odd that they needed it. After we were down there for a while we found out why. Have fun,,,,PL

Paul,
We're staying at Leo's Campground, it's not the Ritz but it's OK at $110 for
two nights. The place is EMPTY and Leo put us in spot #11 which is in the
shade for most of the day. There is another campground on Key West and it
was $80 a night plus tax.
We're going to do a tour of Key today and then tomorrow we head for Ft.
Myers to see an old Hong Kong Harley buddy.
Regards,
Rob M.

Yes, i was stunned. Everything is high. We watched the sunset at the fort instead at the docks. Its a real zoo at the dock/pier each nite. lots of beagers and hawkers. If you tour the fort you can come back that evening and watch the sunset.,,,PL
