Monaco is making a lot of noise about their new Vesta motorhome. It's one of the nicer ones I've seen that isn't cargo-container sized. It's priced at about $200,000.00. I saw it on the recent episode of American RVer. The Monaco fellow said it's the first vertically integrated motorhome built since the GMC.
It has some pretty neat features - the awnings are built in to the roof structure - double pane glass - lots of storage - 6kw diesel Onan.
Still it's 17,000 lbs. heavier and $185,000 more expensive than my Palm Beach.
I wonder what I could do to the Palm Beach with the money lost in 3 years of depreciation and interest payments - maybe $75,000?

The shot of the front grille reminds me of the old cab-over trucks. (But I kind of like the old trucks!)
The list of features and options is a nice list for my "keeper" motorhome. (Still on the drawing board.)

Looks like an SOB rear ended a large Citroen. Some of the features are nice, like the windows, frenched in awnings, and the taper at the rear, but It is kind of ugly.
Flat sides do give more space inside, but if you have slides, what's it matter?

It is nicer than the box on wheels. But, I agree with the others. No windows of size. Snore. Grill is not timeless or classic; '41 Chevy COE, anyone? Our bogies step over bumps. I am thinking that rear may not even though it has air bags.
Do a Google search until you find a picture of the back of this rig. Oh, my, oh, my. Love our picture window. Our favorite thing is to back up to a lake for the night.
I think I will keep my $175K.

$200,000 and they can only afford 2 freekin pictures in their gallery??
I think If I took $50k and give it to Jim I'd have a pretty dang reliable, like new coach.
A few 10s of K more and I could probably get a nice rear slideout.
A rear bedroom slideout is my dream conversion...

It looks like a step in the right direction. I was wondering what Navistar
effect there would be. Hopefully they'll drop all the confusing and
multitudinous quantity of models. I never have figured that one out unless
everybody's plant gets a unique name. It shows some European influence but
not quite enough.
"For every 2% reduction in drag they get 1% improvement in fuel mileage."
That isn't much when we're talking less than 15 mpg.
Diesel puller -- it depends on the sound deadening. It appears the rear
queen area is raised.
Interesting product. It makes me think that Newmar may counter with
something if this Vesta holds. I liked the New Aire.

Which pretty much explains the build of less than 100.
