I am considering replacing my existing single-DIN Kenwood
radio in the coach with a single DIN unit
that has a 7"pop-out display. I pops out and rotates up.
Now, I realize that will block the HVAC controls,
but has anyone put in one of these single DIN nav units and
have any thoughts of popup vs drop down
display?

How about this:
http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/pName/car-stereo-av-system-with-bluetooth-1din/

Its a 1din with a 5 inch screen that sits in front of the unit. no
blocking of the HVAC controls at all.

I did a jensen model, and since i don't really adjust the dash controls it's
not a problem. I have full access to the fan speed switch with the unit up.

I think my model is the 9312, which allowed multiple inputs including a rear
camera that I installed.

I installed one in my Chrysler minivan and it is pretty neat. This one has nav integrated into it, otherwise why bother. Overall, I really like it but it is temper mental and sometimes doesn't extend and sometimes it loses all of it's numerous settings and requires extensive reprogramming

...I think my unit is a Kenwood 7in. slider (I suffer from CRS )

It does cover the hvac controls, but is easy to send the screen
back inside so that I can do what ever I need to do.

I like the bigger screen as I did install a back up cramera, and
full garmmin GPS. The unit has MP3, and a USB port as well

The whole thing seems to work with out much hassel.
