Well, after years of looking and 2 years pursuing this particular coach, the deal is done and it's finally in my garage:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5583

I've been following the GMC forums for years, but now that I'm actually "hands-on", I have a lot of questions which I will post later under their own topics.

This coach had 2 previous owners. The first owners only used it as an occasional family hauler and it appears it was never used for camping. The second owner was a high-end car collector who used it for yearly trips to Pebble Beach and occasional recreation trips. It just turned 38,000 miles, has been in enclosed storage its entire life, and is about as original as they come nowadays.

As soon as I finish surveying everything, it will be going out to MGM to have Miguel go through it. Initially I hear a wheel bearing howling somewhere in back, the steering has a bit of play and a rattle, brakes seem slightly anemic, the handbrake has little effect, it could use fresh batteries, and the tires appear to be from 1996 (if I'm reading the sidewalls correctly!). Other than that, it passed the smog inspection very cleanly, and runs like new.

Great find...She's a real keeper! Your Kingsley has very clean and elegant lines to her. Nothing like finding a low mileage original coach. I bet she still smells like a brand new car inside!

Congratulations on a great coach. John Harper owned a 77 Kingsley and posted some excellent albums of original details which you might find valuable.

Enjoy. -- thanks for sharing!

John passed away just over a year ago.
He and I infrequently traded emails and when I wrote him several weeks ago his widow replied with the sad news.

Wow--that is sad news. John often had views that didn't sit well with the establishment but I always enjoyed his viewpoints. I stayed in touch with him after he resigned from the net. Do you know what happened??

Bob,

Here is part of a reply I received to an email I sent in June --

My John died last July 12th.  He so enjoyed the GMC group, and was always talking about all the information that was shared.

We so loved John's adventures in the GMC, he would research and plan trips for months for his grandchildren.  We all miss him so much.

Pete,

It looks like you did real well.

And if you have been reading this site long, you should expect (and I hope appreciate) my translation of a waterman's greeting to the new vessle/owner in the fleet.

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Welcome to the Family/Cult/Asylum...

Matt
