I really thought our Coach rode well and was reasonably quiet.
Our tires, BFG V Steel, (Feb 2001) had no cracking or other visible wear and less than 6000 miles on them, 5200 of those miles we put on since getting the Coach last September. Being concerned about their age and wanting to reduce the possibility of having problems on the road, we had Jeff Sirum install new Cooper ARM II LRE tires and it is like driving a different Coach. Marked difference in the way the Coach rides. The old tires must have been hardened through age or new technology in tires makes for a much softer, quiet ride. Absolutely no Road noise, seems to be glued to the road.
Real pleased.

You will get that response with almost any new set of tires, for a while. It's like when you were a kid and got a new pair of tennis shoes. Watch a NASCAR race and you will see what new tires do. IMHO you should have stuck with BFG T/As though. Coopers are made offshore and not nearly as good as they once were.

As far as I know, Cooper has tire plants in Texarkan, Tupelo and Clarksdale (MS)

I had the SMR IIs and would match them against the best and more expensive.

The majority of the newer tires are no longer 100% steel cord on the side
walls.
They are mostly polyester, this is good in that it behaves better on rutted
roads.

As the years passed, I am not very attentive to details and often get numbers, messages and myself mixed up, I think they call them Brain Fxxts. I find that is the case here, not unusual, the tires are as Mr David mentioned, SMR II, not what I said. <VBG>

Sounds good. Someone awhile ago also recommended them. Looked at a website and couldn't immediately find load ratings. What size did you get?

225 75 16 LRE, I was able to get them for $60.00 less than BFG's.
Am more than satisfied.

Cool. Thanks Richard. I may get Coopers too when I finally get to it. Good price, good recommendations. May go with the 245's though.

You can at Discount Tire. I go there not just for price but also because the dates are up to 6 months fresher because of their large turnover. I paid less than that for my T/As.
