You listen to the growl of that engine, and know why Unlimited Hydros became so popular. A jet boat just doesn't reach in and get you in the same way.

Several years back, I got the opportunity to see a Spitfire up close and was able to view the cockpit area. When you see how tiny and unprotected the area is, you can really appreciate the bravery of those pilots that flew them in combat.

And yes, the sound of these engines certainly beat that of a jet engine any day!

I'm thinking that engine used a pressure carb as this one seems to be a
straight downdraft carb.

Len,
Another correction -- I should have said, supercharged Wasp Major radial engine...

Oh well, the carb is fun to look at -- may need to find a museum that needs a display.

1. The sound alone makes
it worth pulling it up. For those without high speed

worth the wait.

bject: [GMCnet] Fw: non-GMC Spitfire Mk. 11- (eleven) The Only One Flying

Nothing like the sound of a Merlin!

She's a beauty

You will love this!! The ONLY flying Spitfire Mk.
1. The sound alone makes
it worth pulling it up. For those without high speed
nternet, this one is
worth the wait.

I know the ladies think we are silly, but we old
eezers get a high charge
out of this. Definitely a cool airplane with "the
ound". Note that the
term is "She",

a certain reverence to a living breathing beautiful
achine.

A great show!

Jets just don't sound the same.
