I was thinking about putting a windshield visor on the GMC. For the owners that have them now, how do you like them? Are there some visors that are designed better over the years than others when it comes to quality and how they install?

Benny.....

I bought the two piece visor from Jimmy K.

It is nessary (in my opionion) that you trial fit the visor (with the help of two friends) to your coach, and mark the visor at the overlap point so that you can permanently join the two pieces together. This makes for a much stronger visor, and if you fill the remaining seam, sand and paint, you end up with a realy good looking visor.
I glued and screwed mine to the coach which bonds it well as the wind can be very strong when thoes big rigs pass on comming at 70mph +.
I feel it has made a sugnificant differince in heat reduction (driving into the sun), as well as a reduction in glare.
I sugest you talk to Jim, as he sells and installs lots of them.
Also talk to Jim Bounds

One thing I noticed as an Aeronautical Engineer; most of the air that hit
the wind shield will pocket under the visor. This is not healthy as it will
create considerable drag and have caused mileage to drop by 1-2 mpg.
Our units have been redesigned to reduce the drag and to almost eliminate
the shudder when a big rig passes you by.

My ancestor's comedy was way ahead of it's time...Kind of like a GMC!

Are all the windshield visors built as two pieces? Seems like it would be a lot stronger as a single mold. I think I need to check one out on a GMC first.

...Your right Benny...you should check out several on the coaches.

As I understand it, some one used to produce a one piece, but does not any longer....some problems with quality, as well as shipping costs. It costs much more to ship something as large
and awkward as a full size visor as opposed to half size.

You need to talk to Jim Bounds about how to correctly install a visor.
If you don't do it right, you will join the ranks of GMCers who have
really pissed off those following them when chunks of their ripped of
visord hit thier cars.

G'day,

I bought a two piece visor for The Blue Streak in Australia. I carried it
back as baggage on United from Houston to Sydney.

When I checked in they asked me what it was, I told them it was two of the
worlds largest boomerangs I had made specially in the USA! ;-)

Regards,

I have a one piece, installed by Jeff Sirum, it helps a lot with the Sun. I painted it to match the Grey on my Coach.

No one wants to pay the freight of one piece.
If you glass it correctly, it will not be weak.
