hey all, I am at work and tried to order a replacement alternator for my 78 with the 403. The guys at NAPA need a part number or model number to get the right one. I am at work and the coach is 30 miles away at home. Does anyone have the correct numbers available so I don't have to drive 60 miles round trip tomorrow?

They kept asking what type of motorhome, GMC, OK but who made the motorhome. I kept saying GMC but they could not get it clear that I was not referring to a chassis but a complete motorhome. Young-uns!!! They probably don't know what points and a carb are either.

sometimes it takes 2 or 3 Napa alternators to get a working one, and then
they donot replace the stator windings.

sorry to say

If you want to stick with Napa, the 134022 is an 80 amp with lifetime guarantee or the 2134022 has a 3 year guarantee. Most likely they will have it in stock.

I should have mentioned that Autozone has a 100 amp 7157 with lifetime guarantee that is a direct replacement. That's what I run and the first one lasted a year but this one has about 4 on it so far.

Most GMCs used an 80 amp alternator. GM number 1101030. Napa's 13-4022.

However in 19789 GM used a 145 amp alternator. GM number 1117148.
Napa should be able to cross to this one if you have the 145 amp alternator.

Others have put in a 100 amp alternator. Autozone DL7157. AC/Delco has a 1101050 number on their 100 amp alternator.

I think that the 403 and 455 used the same alternator so you could always have them look up a 1975 Olds Toronado with a 455 engine.
It would probably be an 80 amp though.

The problem with buying a NAPA alternator is if it quits you must take it back to the same store where you bought it. Also you must have the original receipt. That kind of leaves you out in the cold if you are on the road when it quits. AZ will honor their warranty no matter what store you go to. All you need it your telephone number for them to look up the original sale.

NAPA is the only game in town around here. To be honest i have never had any problems with stuff from them.
