I have another question about Duracool. I have been neglecting my '87 Jeep Cherokee ever since I got my GMC Motorhome (GMC content), although I have towed it with the coach (more GMC content):

I have finally been forced to do a number of repairs due to a water pump failure. Among them are a new radiator, and repairing the air conditioning. I have had a small leak in the AC system for a few years and can get to all the hoses etc. better with the radiator removed.
Part of the problem (the main one, as far as I can tell) is a porous AC hose. The system has leak detector dye in it and the dye is leaking through the hose in the form of a kind of oily "sweat". The system is currently charged with R-12. I think I already know the answer to this question, but here goes anyway. Should I replace this hose or will the Duracool, by virtue of it's 'larger molecules' nor leak through this hose? This is just one of the things on a list of things I need to take care of to bring this vehicle back up to snuff, and I would like to take care of them all at once, if possible, while avoiding unnecessary work and expense.
I have installed Duracool (purchased from Bennet Cycle Supply) into my youngest son's truck and my oldest son's Cherokee with outstanding results and am looking forward to having nice cold AC in my Jeep once again.

Yea, you know what you really need to do, replace the hoses. 24 year old hoses are not going to ever get better, nope, never. LOL.
Don't know about the Duracool molecule size issue, but it is no long term solution. I say this having done my share of repairs which were, in the long run, not "good enough". Do it right while you can get at things.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Good point about the 24 year old hoses. My Dad always used to say "it's a matter of attitude". I guess I just need to change my attitude and tell myself that I'm upgrading my jeep instead of working on the piece of crap I drive (again). That or get rid of it.

Rob,
Replacing the hose is really the correct thing to do but if you want
to try the Duracool, it's cheap enough to risk a couple cans to see if
it works.
