All,
Pre-Dream Cruise there was some discussion about having a Southeastern Michigan Lunch gathering. I had hoped to put something together earlier, but things didn't work out. I would propose Sunday, September 12th at 11:30. (This weekend is too soon, then Labor Day, and the 12th is the following Sunday). I'm open to suggestions for time and date changes.

I haven't been there, but there is a Golden Corral at 37101 Warren Road in Westland, not far off I 275.

<http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=42.335328,-83.402511&z=15&t=h&hl=en>

Looks like a big parking lot, we could probably park coaches all towards the Northeast Corner of the lot, to have a post-lunch walk thru.

To keep things simple, I wasn't planning on getting a meeting room, as I don't think we'll be that large of a group.

Just wanted to throw it out there to see if there was any interest.

Craig,
Great idea! I always thought there would be some interest in that type of gathering in this area. We probably have about a dozen coaches listed in the NW Ohio, SE Michigan area and a lot more if we could include NE Indiana. Count me in!

All,
Sounds like there is enough interest to have our 1st one, which is great. Let's say September 12th, 11:30 at the Golden Corral is on. I should have my coach with me, unless it misbehaves at U of M tailgaiting on the 4th. My friend and fellow GMC'er Tim Cavanaugh who isn't on this forum will probably also be there.

Look forward to seeing everyone. Bring a camera, and let's talk GMC's.

Matt,

At one of ours in Marble Falls (before we moved to the Golden Corral in San Antonio) there was only one other couple with Lanny & me. We had Valentine decorations & candy on the tables, & had just as much fun as if there had been our average of 20. An important key is to be "consistent" & make it fun. We're a party looking for someplace to happen. :) Good luck.

I'll try to make it if I can get up in time. We're having a reunion Saturday of about 25 people from the old neighborhood. Haven't seen most of them in 40 years so it could be a long Saturday night. At my age, I can't party most of the night and be up bright and early the next morning like the old days. Sad

Dang, 11:30 is during church. How long do you think you'll be there until? And Craig, where do you tailgate at?

Nick,
I would think we'd be there quite a while. At least I will be. Figure an hour or 1-1/2 hr. to eat, and then maybe another hour or two of looking at coaches and talking. You live pretty close, you could call my cell, and I could let you know who all is there, when you are thinking of coming out. 248 252 seven one six six. Billie Young from TX has given me tons of organizing tips and information, which I'll share with everyone. I owe her a thank you note still, I've been crashing away on some Onan repairs. Will know soon how successful they are.

Anyway, it should be fun. Billie strongly suggests we have one every month, even in the winter months without coaches, to keep in touch and build momentum. Might want to think about how often we want to do these before the 12th. Look forward to seeing everyone then.

As far as tailgate spots, I'm not sure where it's at. it's somewhere near the stadium in a lot that my neighbors have reservations at. I haven't been there before, and they haven't shared an address, but I'll know soon, I guess. Sounds like I might have a couple more opportunities to do that as the season goes on.

Craig,

You can Google Golden Corral, & they have a link you can click on for locations. Type in the city & state, & it will give phone #, address etc. I'm so excited for y'all. You will have a great time each month.

Hi everyone, FYI-that large parking lot right off of the Golden Corral is a Meijer parking lot.

I may miss the luncheon, but I'll try to swing by to view and chat after noonish. Thanks Craig for putting this together!

All,
I'm fine with young'ens, and the question has also come up about spouses, which I'm also okay with, as long as they're not mine. Being single, I'm blissfully unaware of the maintenance requirements there. It might be worth a few people chiming in as to wether they were bringing spouses or not. Depending on the spouse, might be uncomfortable if there were only one there.

Also, don't need to be from SE Michigan to attend. Sounds like John Shotwell from Ohio is going to join us. I figure the more the merrier, and we can sort out details when we get there.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there. And yes, after a very long weekend, my Onan is running great, at least till the next repair.

I would like to come. I hope I haven't jinxed myself by saying that...
I had to bail on the Dream Cruise, and now we aren't going to Du Quoin.
(Buying a house instead)
I intend to be there. I expect to be there. I better be there.
My wife would like to come, but she might have to work.

Craig,
Most wifes come to our lunches with their husbands.
Occasional child or grand child. Never had a problem
with either. Men and women usually seperate.
Occasionaly a wife with a serious interest in GMC
and repair will stay with the men. This has never been
a problem either. I strongly suggest you keep your
lunches open.
Charles

In as much as she drives the coach about as much as I do, I would be hard pressed to exclude her from anything GMC.
