The power went out of my power brakes. What do I check first?
The vacuum hose looks fine as does the check valve. If the booster itself is bad, where can I get an OEM brake booster?

Usually you will hear a "hissing" sound when you step on the brakes if the
internal diaphram is damaged.  I have seen the plastic check valve assembly
plugged into the booster broken-- it's a cheap part and cheap to replace.

Call me if there is anything further I can help with,

Just to make sure, I would double check if it is the booster. With the engine running, remove the hose/check valve from the booster (just pull it out) and put your finger over the end of the check valve to see if you feel vacuum. If so, turn the engine off, see if you can suck thru the check valve on the booster side--you should not be able to and you can leave the valve on the hose. One more triple check is to shut the engine off, and pull the valve out of the booster and see if you hear air rushing into the booster--if it doesn't, then your booster is indeed bad.

Not wanting to sound like gratuitus advertising or competing with Jim K. cause
we try to all work together but I also advertise a sensatized booster on my
"Just for GMC Parts" page under "mechanical" stuff.  www.gmccoop.com  Either his
or mine will probably be a vast improvement for your system.
