Think a lot of us will appreciate these.

From another site:
These images, by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information, are some of the only color photographs taken of the effects of the Depression on America’s rural and small town populations. The photographs are the property of the Library of Congress and were included in a 2006 exhibit Bound for Glory: America in Color.

Excellent pictures.
Times were tough, not that long ago.
Note the bare foot kids in the school choir.

Nobody was overweight. Right kind of food or not enough?

Reminded me very much of my childhood -- I/we could very well have been in
any of those photos. Bare feet? What's strange about that? That's the way
we all went, up to about 4th grade. Didn't have no fat kids neither, but
not because we were hungry. More because there was no fast food and we
played in the yard from dawn 'til forced to quit chasing fireflies well
after dark.

I can remember running down the alley next to our house on the gravel barefoot without any pain. Today I can hardly stand on gravel without wincing!
