Man, it is hot in Southeast Mo. Should have stayed in Oregon. However we have a trip planned and will leave Wed.
So, I am trying to get things ready on the coach that has been sitting for a month. It does not like sitting.
I double gasketed the chrome thermostat housing. Used some 3m spray to stick the suckers together then greased both sides and stuck them on the intake, along with the 180 degree "blow by" Rob't Shaw. Pulled the temp gauge from the intake and used plumber's tape on it to stop the leak there. Pulled the rear heater hose input trying to find an "elbow" type. Not so. Put it back and then changed the 5/8 hose and really cranked that clamp. Then pulled the 3/4 and changed it. Put the new petcock in and filled the radiator. Did I forget to say I took an antifreeze shower? Went under to make sure the petcock did not leak and broke it off in my hand, but it ain't leaking. Will see if I can get another one to carry so when I drain radiator again I can put it in.
Fired it up, no leaks. I am feeling good except for that petcock thing.
Let it warm up and killed it. Hit key, nothing. Oh me, back to the battery thing. I could not for the life of me figure out what was up. Pulled my cut off switch and got that out of line. Ran the "hot" direct to the booster. Nothing. Pulled the ground again and cleaned. Nothing. Ran another ground, nothing. Reached back, this battery is behind two house batteries, to grab the positive cable. It came right off in my hand. Monkied with it but it is just wore out. Clamped it good with vice grips and the dog gone coach starts every time. So, off for a new battery cable and all should be fine for us to get out of here Wednesday.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I used every one of them. The net is a great place to come when having problems. Better than any kind of manual one can buy. Just wanted to thank all of you for responding.
