I just pulled the dump valve. It is a Valterra 1003 valve. I may be wrong but this design looks like it will always leak fluid. There is no seal on top and bottom of the valve that came out of mine. Mine leaked fluid and I made a mess more than once. It looks like I cannot put another kind of valve in since the male part of the valterra valve looks to be glued into the tank. I will be dropping the black tank tomorrow to check and see why there is the tape on the back top of the tank.
I have always been hooked up so I have not have any tank leaks but I would like to be able to dry came without any problems so I would like to know if my tank has a problem. I always flush the tank when I get home until basically clear water comes out. I use a wand in through the toilet to make sure I loosen up what is in the tank.
My gauge for the tank black tank and the water tank dose not work. What gauges have been used in the tanks.
Thanks

There should be a seal on each side. I've had Valterra valves on previous travel trailers and now on the GMC, they don't leak at all.

I have two Valterra 2 inch valves waiting for a macetor install on the Birch. (They are the same design as the 3 inch.) The seals are o-ring like that provide the seal for both the connection between the valve body/fitting AND the valve body/valve plate.
I could take a picture if you need it.
