I THINK they used small steel balls (bearing) to plug the ends of passages drilled in the body of the carb. If one has came out, the passage isn't working as designed.

Look for an unplugged drill hole the same size as the steel ball. It may help to have a "good" carb to compare.

Gents

Close examination shows the ball seems to fit in the base of the choke....I
tapped it in there and tried it.....runs better.
There is another problem (a lack of fuel supply) but I'll get into that
another time

Thanks

Mike

Six years ago when I purchased my '76 Palm Beach and I was cleaning, adjusting and tweaking everything I could find, I took my carb apart and also found a little BB size ball bearing in the fuel bowl. I never could find out how it got there and in fact that it belonged there, so I took it out. My Onan 6K purrs like a kitten so after the 6 years, and several hundred hours, I don't think it's needed. Hope I'm not wrong!
