Have you considered the Rostra Cruise control? More expensive than the
junkyard route, but comes with instructions specific to the GMC that
even I managed to follow. And it's all shiny and new, perfect for a gift.

I can second that the Rostra Cruise control was a relatively easy install and works good.

Kim, we have the Rostra and it was simple plug n play for us, after the old one was stripped off. Give Jim K. a call and talk with him about it.
