Teri and I attended the FMCA meeting yesterday in Redmond. There were 10 GMC families represented and 8 in GMC coaches. We drove down Tuesday and stayed with Larry Calhoun. He and I go back a few years and enjoy one another's company. Anyway, the Spring Rally is in Perry Ga. March 14-17th. I know several of you have voiced a desire to attend one of these. This will be our chance to make a good showing. FMCA will put us all together and I believe they want to "showcase" us out front for all to see. It would be great to have a large group attend. Their fees for rallies are a lot cheaper than our normal fees as they do not provide meals. They do bring in big entertainers though. Their website is down, at the moment, so I can't get the dates. Teri and I are hoping to be there and to roll in with a large group of fellow GMCers. Give some thought to it. They are now trying to be "user friendly" to the GMC clubs. They also know that our International Club will not have rallies in conjunction with their's but nothing stops our regional clubs from doing so. We might save some money and headaches by hanging out with them a few times and having our own meetings, regional clubs that are in the area of the FMCA conventions. The Fall 2011 one is in Wisconsin.
Just something to think about.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan, et al,

My aunt has a 249 acre "play farm" (3 BR cottage, bass pond, & catfish pond,
& lots of woods) 12 miles w. of our home, 53 miles SW of the "Georgia
National Fairground" at Perry. Only three 30A full hookup sites, but LOTS
of pretty parking space.

We'll be expecting lots of stopovers at the farm before and after FMCA
Perry. Y'All come!

Oh yea. That was one of our most fun camp outs, at your place last year. Thanks for adding that. Maybe we can get a few to go with us to Perry, by your adding that incentive.

85th International Convention Perry, GA March 14-17, 2011

I have a couple of months free next spring and was planning a tour of the country. My general plan is: Down the west coast, and into AZ. Then head east to the ocean, north most of the way to Canada and across the northern US…. a little after the snow melts.

I have someone to visit in Phoenix and someone else to see in Wisconsin and would like to hit each when the weather is nice… in the same two month time frame. Other than those two stops, I am looking for interesting things to see, do and maybe eat. (Wife REALLY likes seafood.)

This convention might fit in. (I have been thinking about finally joining some of the clubs.)

Anyone have any other ideas? (I can move the dates a bit either direction to get a good schedule.)

Mike, thanks for the dates. It was late last night and I could not find them. I need the date for the GMC International Convention in La. too. Don't want to miss that one for FMCA.
Anyway Mike, we will keep up with you on your trip. If we are home we would like you to stop and see us. If we are still in Az. you can use our driveway for as long as you want. Neighbor will have key to my house.

The dates for Perry are March 14-17. The GMCMI convention in Patterson, La. is April 10-16. Just thought I would post these so folks might make plans. Any regional GMC club can contact FMCA and make plans for a "pre rally" should you so desire. That would put your group there a few days early and stay on for the FMCA convention. Just food for thought.

Dan,

Thanks for putting this idea out. As far as the present president of GMC
Eastern States is concerned, this is a great suggestion. And, March 11-13
would also fit into my college schedule. Shucks, we could all watch the
young folks race to Florida that weekend.

Seriously, it would be a great way to show off the GMC and maybe get some
other fools to join the club. One or two more won't hurt...might even help!

I'll make contact with the powers that be as soon as the dust settles from
Redmond.

Thanks, again. Great thinking.

I forwarded it to the Dixielanders Group too, to try to stimulate interest.

Byron,
I must take exception to your remark (don't we now have a right to never be offended by anything - ever?), as it implies that some or all GMC owners are fools.

Crazed - Maybe,
Disturbed - Probably,
Obsessed - Plausibly
Devoted - Certainly
But
Foolish - Not hardly

Maybe the Florida club might want to show up too. I am sure a lot of folks from Florida will be present no further than Perry is from the State Line. Dixielanders is a great idea Ken. I know several who are in that area and do not belong to Eastern States.
The title of this thread should have read Perry Spring FMCA. I realized that after I read back on it. As time draws nearer we can resurrect it under that name.
I think it is cool when the 40 foot owners come over and want to know about the GMC. Many of the coaches are painted up so they are hard to tell just how old they are. Old Timers know but some of the crowd have no idea about the age of GMC coaches. I like to watch them take a double take when you tell them. I heard Teri engaged in conversation with a GM bus owner who had no idea about our machines.
Oh well, hope to see many of you there in the Spring.
Dan

Yep, I'm one happy fool. A wiser person would spend tens of thousands of
dollars on something else but the return may not be as enriching.

It's good to know I'm not alone. In fact, I knew I wasn't...Takes one to
know one.

What else you going to do with your money? Give it the nursing home when you
wind up there. Life is for living, don't be one of those people lying in the
