I'm going to start a new thread on this so as not to derail another post asking for help with brakes. There seems to be two different factions here as to what constitutes help. Most of us participate in other forums as well and the dynamics here are very similar to others.
Here's what I consider help when someone has a problem:
Have you read this(link attached)
This happened to me and this is what I found
Check out my pictures when this happened to me( link attached)
In my opinion, here are some things to look at
Call so and so in your area and they can help you
Here is what I don't consider help:
Run!
Your mechanic is an idiot
They are incompetent
Have it towed to so and so
Find another place
Given all that, many folks are not close to Sandusky, Fremont, Orlando, or whatever. So they need to do the best with what is available. In many cases "my mechanic" may be a friend, a neighbour, a relative, or the only shop in town. That doesn't mean they can't help. With some guidance a lot of people can do good quality work. Many times a shop just doesn't have mechanics who grew up with 30 year old technology. That doesn't mean they can't do good quality work if given a bit of good constructive help rather than sarcastic opinion.
