Sir: the oil pressure warning light switch is on the LF top of engine next to the water neck. It has a wire going to it that will cause the light to go out when unplugged and come on when grounded.

Not really Emery--in fact you weren't the only one and I think you are right. However, there are some folks here (me not included)that always just supply a good answer without any personal opinion attached. I really like that and again, I'm not blessed with that.

However, I feel that my suggestion to get another mechanic in the long term would be the best advice I could give to really help Ken Burgett.
His mechanic is obviously not familiar with GM engines of the vintage of the GMC motorhome. Ken would be far better served if he finds one who is.
His mechanic is likely charging by the hour and if he is being paid to learn on the job then that could get a bit expensive.

CBWoodSR wrote on Wed, 11 August 2010 11:01 | Guys, remember this is an older engine and the switch doesnt look like what newer (younger) people are used to seeing and where its located.
It doesnt look like an oil switch that I am used to seeing also and it works differently than we're used to (me)

I thought I was wrong once.....
Thankx

most of my experience is with 4 banger sports cars. most of them had the oil switch down low on the block.

I think it was meant as constructive advice. Even if you were a mechanic born after there were no non EFI and non Computer cars being built, the basic senders and switchs on engines are rudimentary. Or if you don't know where it is you should be able to find it through basic trouble shooting ( hands on ) or the internet ( hands off ).

what's the fun in that and why waste the time when a quick question here leads to so much helpful discussion !
