My name is Frank and I am the PROUD owner of a 1978 GMC Eleganza II.
I am an advid football fan and I love to tailgate.About 2years ago I decided that for the ultimate tailgate experience you should have an RV.My first intention was to get somrthing road ready, but after reading, reseaching and lurking all the GMC MOTORHOME site my decision was really easy.Although my wife knew I had been thinking of obtaining one I she did not know I had purchased one until recently after paying on it for about a year.
I figured it was easier to ask to forgiveness than permission.
With title in hand I can tell you I have not been this excited in a long time and with NO mechanical knowledge whatsoever I look forward too what's ahead (TODAY).
Finally,I'd like to end with a little story.
When I first ran across this RV at the home of Mr.William Washington in CT, it had been sitting about 9 years and had alot of deteriation and water damage.Mr. washington told me it would run. We agreed on a price without me ever hearing it run.Being in automobile sales for over 20 years I am what I believe a very good at reading people and going with my first impression.I did not have all the monies at the time so I convinced him to take a non refundable deposit as good faith,Why? I think it actually had to do with the community of GMC owners and the willingness to HELP(Blackbook) others with GMC's ya gotta wanna be associated with a fraternity like that,The type of people ya don't see anyonmore.
Today I can say I am a part of that Fraternity.
With a charged battery and a little tinkering..."IT RUNS and everything works". I spoke with Jim Bounds about 15 minutes and he suggested I treat it like a 26 foot Corvette and have it towed due to the Dry rotted tires. Thanks Jim for taking time to talk with me.
I hope to meet people from this fraternity in the future and I look forward to obtaining the alot of knowledge as well.
Thanks for allowing me to ramble,
Frank
