Deb,
Welcome to the site.
You asked for help on headliner replacement.
Here is a link to the GMC photo site -- search for headliner and you will find several albums.

Welcome Deb: Since the last GMC class A was made in 1978 you might want to look at the original sales brochures (link below) and maybe find what you have. If you could post your TZE # off the firewall under the passenger hood we would know more. There were other companies that tried to continue the GMC but eventually failed. Good Luck.

Deb...We completely rebuilt the interior of our 78 PB and used DOOR SKINS found at most building supplies stores. They come in 4x8 sheets and are single ply hard wood from some other country, also they are cheap to buy.
Using the old cardboard headliners as templates, we traced and cutout new headliner backing plates.(sounds hard, but the doorskins cut easely with a utility knife)
I had gone to an upholstey shop (auto/boat) and discused the possable choises in headliner materials...slected one, and took the roll home. Using our newly cut out doorskins, I trimmed the fabrick to fit, and folded the fabrick back in half.
Using 3M spray contact cement, we proceded to apply a coat on both the wood and fabric and carefuly eased the too together.
Sound dificult, but if you take your time, its all doable.
You understand that all the upper cabinetts must be removed.
The doorskins bend nicely to the inside ark of our coaches, and the look is fantastic.
I would post pictures, but I dont know how!!!
Dan who is good at some things and not at others Borlase

Just throwing in my $0.02 here....
As a former Trimmer (Vehicle Upholsterer), I cannot stress the importance of
choosing the correct glue for a headliner. Going cheap on the glue will
only cause the headliner to "Lift" (Sag) from the substrate when the cheap
glue breaks down.
I've seen beautiful jobs literally fall down within 6 months due to cheap
glue. Stick with :d (pun) 3M or Weldwood products. They work well and
last.

Ken,
Also a former & sometimes current trimmer. I could not agree with you more
on the adhesive - of course in the shop we bought 5 gallon buckets of that
pea green, yellow mustard adhesive for the spray guns. 3M makes several
excellent spray adhesives. Make sure you buy the one that states on the can
for HEAVY headliners. It may be 3M 8088 or 0898. But one will definitely
say on the label NOT FOR HEADLINERS. You will know the right one as it is
about 30% more $$$. And worth every penny. The 3M adhesives have a good
"spider web" pattern for optimal coverage.
And always trim with NEW single edge razor blades.
