Roland, it is likely prior owner Don Wirth might have changed the 50A
cord to a 30A, in order to get more cord stuffed in the stowage area.
Many
owners have made this change. You might call Barbar Wirth who still lives
in Harteville OH to see if she knows anything about it.

Also, if you don't have an owner's manual check Billy Massey's GMC
Publications web site for one. http://www.bdub.net/manuals/index.html You
may have to use
the 1977 manual.

The GFI is telling you there is a problem or its electronic circuitry is telling it there is a problem.

One cause may be a weak GFI but I usually see them either work or not.

Try opening all your circuits in the GMC then try pluggin in. Dont forget the Buzz Box.

if it trips there is a problem with ground, neutral or Line.

If the ground and neutral are connected to gether inside the GMC, that will trip it.

if you are using the 50 amp cord, use a meter on resistance and go across the line to neutral, neutral to ground, and ground to line. do this to both line spades. They should all read zero.

if you get a reading, you may need to disconnect the wiring to the coach, opening the cb's should be good enough to get the desired test result. If you have a genset throwover, the problem can be in there. People tend to tie the neutral and grounds which are supposed to separate when on shore power.

Your end result you want is zero readings across all spades on the cord plug.

LarC ( Always careful with those GFI protectors, sometimes they are real finicky )
