Bob,
The one I installed is 1/4 inch thick and replaced the stock carb to manifold gasket which is about 1/4 inch thick.
The post earlier about installing sleeves on things to protect them from heat from headers made me wonder if headers contribute to vapor lock. I have stock exhaust manifolds on my rig because I don't like the heat given off by headers. I have only one car with headers and it came from the factory with the pipes wrapped in an insulating tape and has heat shield to keep the heat from the top of the engine. I have a friend in the coating business and he claims he can coat headers and they will run so cool you can put your hand on them when running. Don't know if it is B.S.
Maybe someone will do a survey to see how many GMC,s with vapor lock have headers.
