Just finished putting the headers on, and now the question of socks.
Are plastic ties able to withstand the heat?
My transmission cooling lines are practically touching the headers. Is that
a problem??
Thorley says to put a sock on the speedo cable. Is this necessary for our
coaches?
Thanks in advance!

Plastic ties seem to work ok at the distant end of the sock (furthest from the heat)
Yes, you should protect the speedo cable -- the cover melts..
Might not hurt to protect the tranny lines.

Tranny lines can be bent so it is not hitting the pipe.
Since there is as as much hot gas flowing from each pipe, the trans line
dies not pick up as much heat as people think.
If you purchased the Ceramic headers, there is not much concern.
The flexible shields can be sew en and tucked so it will not unravel.
Tie the speedo line to the trans at the line to avoid the heat.

Pete,
I did them all. Socks on the plugs, sock on the speedo (they sent one extra) and wrapped the trans lines. I have little monkey hands, long arms, and working through the wheel well, that was a pain!
