Gary,
If you have "vapor lock" you need to:
1. Install electric fuel pump
2. Install baffles in front of fuel tanks to prevent heat from engine and exhaust blowing on gas tanks and boiling the gasoline.
3. Fuel tanks are located too close to the pavement and need to be insulated or painted white to prevent radiant heat from pavement boiling gasoline. Tanks are larger than other cars and trucks and closer to pavement and more likely to boil gas. (My tanks are painted flat black. Maybe they radiate heat from tanks because they are black.)
4. Need to insulate fuel line between fuel pump and carb. Wonder if clothes pins and aluminum foil will work as well as they did on flat head Ford engines.
5. Ethanol contributes to problem and gasoline with no ethanol should be used when possible.
6. Vapor lock is more likely to occur at high elevations so take the lowest route in hot weather.
7. Move fuel lines, selector valve, and other fuel system components outside the frame rails where air is cooler.
These fixes are the ones that come to mind first and I am sure I missed several others
Jim
