I'm surprised no one has mentioned Kohler gennys as some GMCs left the
factory with one installed instead of an Onan.

I've never heard any complaints about Kohler reliability, cost of parts,
service as one hears about Onan.

It appears they are still supplying marine & RV industies plus others.

I've got one (not the original, probably, but pretty similar). Built like a tank!

David (et al),
I see a lot of the Kohler 4cyl autostarts and they are no more reliable than a well maintained Onan. (In short, I get lots of calls for service - boats being what they are.) The part prices are just about as bad, so I would believe the same of the flat twins in motorhomes of the period.

Strange thing is that recently I have had a few jobs where the owners want the autostart defeated. After we discuss the cost timing for that about half change their mind.
