It may not be right, but what I try to do is get the biggest battery that'll
physically fit & the highest-amp alternator that I can find that will bolt on.
The bigger alternator may pull more hp while it's charging, but it doesn't take
as long to charge up the battery. The bigger battery has more reserve power
before calling on the alternator to recharge it. I plan on moving the house
battery to the generator compartment & putting another starting battery in it's
place, using the isolator to keep them both charged. I will then attach a
combiner to the existing wire running to the converter using it as a charging
wire to the house battery while the motor is running. I will start the genset
with a riding lawn mower battery. Since the genset battery charging circuit on
the genset is still working, I'll leave it alone. I'd rather not use any battery
for more than 1 job, so I'd rather not use the house battery to start the
genset. I'll keep the circuits as separate as possible with any interconnections
handled by combiners.
