My generator will not start with the interior switch....it does nothing.
Somewhere, I know there is a trouble shooting guide probably made by Dwayne
Simmons that tells what wires to jump on the generator board itself to
determine if the board or the switch is at fault...
Now where would I find that guide??
Thanks

Sir: There is a 4 wire connector behind the Onan going to the inside of the coach. They a famous for coroding. Here are the manuals.

If it starts at the generator itself, it is not the board. There is the infamous plug that connects all of the wires from the board to the remote harness--this is almost always the problem. Disconnect it and spray some Eagle mag cleaner on both sides and it will totally remove the oxidation from the pins. Another common spot is where the individual connectors plug into the control board. Pull them all off and clean each and every spade and plug.

Better yet, cut each wire on each side of the connector. Put on some heat shrink tubing and solder the wires together. Repeat for all wires and this eliminated the problem of corrosion in the plug.

Michael,
I go through that once a year. find the connector from the house
switches to the Onan, they're right next to the control board,
separate the two halves of the connector and give both sides a good
shot of ele contact cleaner, do it more than once. Reassemble after
they dry and try the remote switch again. It should work. Duane has
always recommended hardwiring this connector as it is a big cause of
problems.

Gentlemen
I've separated the white square connector at the board and cleaned with an
electrical spray product ..and the board connectors themselves....in the
back of my mind I thought there was another connector somewhere down-under
there (maybe I should have Rob look for me) that should be checked...a 4 pin
you say !
I remember seeing something like that a few years ago...could be 10 or
more...and thought I should check it out.
Well, today is the day !
Today I go in search of the 4 pin connector..........I shall return !

It was the 4 pin connector. I was having intermittent starting problems
from inside the coach 2 years ago. This year it wouldn't function at all.
One wire was corroded completely off and a second was in poor shape.
I hard wired and tested...primes, starts and runs well...and also shuts off
!
Now to finish up!
Thank you one and all.
