A fellow GMC'er has asked:

RV starts out great; 2300rpm to maintain 65mph. But after a while it
may take 4000rpm to maintain 65mph. Then it rained a bit. Could a
little rain cool down the trans enough to get to function better?
That's what seemingly happened. I was back to 2300rpm & 65mph.

Ideas????

Going out on a limb here..(planted a peach tree this year just so I could
say.."See !"), but if the rain cooled it down then you might possibly have
a crack in your transmission valve body ...works well until it get hot then
over revs and then the rain cools everything down, and it goes back to
running normally....trans does not have to be removed is the good news...the
other news is that my opinion is likely not even close..

Roger,
You actually HEARD the engine reving to 4K? Or was it just a tach observation? 4K is well above what any of us would run...unless you are driving 95mph...that is...

Larry, it looks as if Roger is asking for someone else.
One reason I say tach is because 2300 is too low to maintain 65 mph.

I am with Dan on this one. With my 3.07 gears the engine turns 2400-2500 to go 65. He must have been in 2nd gear for a while. If the torque converter was slipping that much rain would never cool it off.

Roger,
Your no longer flying these helicopters in
Vietnam. Your not to auto rotate.
I would keep an eye on that tach and also turn up the aux. ear plugs.
