Someone asked me last week about the campground roads. They are mostly all paved. I think electric scooters will work good here. Think I will bring my little gas scooter. One thing you will like is the grounds are flat and on a good sized lake.
Sept. 26, Sunday---Oct.1, Friday, are the dates. This is normally good weather times in the area. It may conflict with my cotton picking but I will send Teri anyway.
This is a big place. There are at least 2 large shower houses for those who need them. Ray S. and Brenda W. are working hard to make this one of the best so far. You will find the people running the grounds to be very helpful should you need something.
This is a cool little town. A larger town, Carbondale, is just south a few miles, maybe 20. Marion is a bigger place and even has a Menards and a minor league baseball team, 30 miles away.
So, this is only about 8 weeks, maybe 9, away. Make plans to be there. We really would enjoy seeing everyone. I know there are some new faces scattered through the midwest. This would be a great place to get started. Any part you might imagine can be found here or can be shipped in. Come early, stay late, or just come during the convention. I think extra nights at the park are about 20 bux. The sign up form will be coming soon to the GMCMI site and I know Billy will let us know when it is available.
We really enjoy seeing new folks who come for the first time. There are some real "privaleges" for yall. We have not been asked to do the ice cream yet but I know it will be some good stuff. GMCMI does not scrimp on the ice cream.
See you there,
Dan

Should I wait for some kind of application/registration instructions to appear online or should I just call for a site now?
I mean is reserving a site part of the registration to which you refer or do I do that with the people who run the campground?

A GMCnewbie needs to know,

Dave

Dave, hang on til they get it on GMCMI website. It will be announced here. I am just trying to get folks to plan a week off from work to come be with us. I thought 2 months notice would help some of the midwesterners make plans.
We sure have fun at these gatherings. And, there are some great technical talks. A good place to learn how to maintain one's GMC. We also have other non tech talks. My wife is doing a geocache talk.
See you there.

Thanks, Dan.

We (Kim and I), think the registration and schedule is ready for prime time
but must wait on Ray for final "Go Ahead". And, of course, he's on the road
without a wireless tether. Hopefully, it'll be online tonight as soon as we
know for sure.

Kim Weeks, our new convention manager, is a jewel! You'll be blown away
when you see her work. Makes me look like an amateur, ... which is very
accurate, come to think about it. :-)

Why thank you Billy....you are too kind!

Both Ray and I are excited about the GMCMI Fall Convention, September 26 -
October 2 at the beautiful DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in DuQuoin, Illinois.
The location is large wth paved roads, a beautiful campground and our own
lake! Hope to see you all there!

As Billy mentioned, we will have it up on the website shortly. Thank you for
your patience.

How would I look it up on the GPS?
I feel a tug to go but with all the problems Gatsbys' CRUISER Very Happy had last year with the fuel system, I am leary to take her on a long ride just yet.

I might change my mind but looking to find it on the map.

thanks.

Larry, put in Du Quoin, Il. Then go to the intersection of 51 and 14. It is on the south side of Du Quoin. The fairgrounds take up the northeast corner for about a mile. All of the fairgrounds roads show up on my streets and trips gps program.

Thank you Bill, but I cannot take all of the credit. Ray and Carol are the
writers in the bunch. Byron Songer created the illustrations for the DuQuoin
and Patterson Convention logos. I simply enhanced the graphical layout.
Thank you Ray, Carol and Byron, what a team!

And Chili Charlie. At least, that's what I'm calling that old cowpoke who's
the chili mascot.

Did yo know Joe Mondello is into cooking?
He called me looking for a can of tomatoes.
I guess I need to get into that canning business.
