Hi all,

Just blew a tire on my GMC. Looks like the belt gave way (will post a pic later). The tires I have are Dunlop and look like they are in great shape but I think they are close to 10 years old. Anyway I am currently on vacation and will be driving back to Indy tomorrow and have been desperately looking for a replacement tire but no luck here in Cedar Rapids. My father-in-law had a friend who had a spare 1 ton tire and wheel just like the on off the GMC so that will now be my spare. Anyway I now want to replace all the tires and install 16" wheels and tires. Looking at the earlier posts on the same subject I went to Southwest tire website and looks like they sell new steel 16" rims that will fit the GMC. See below link. Can anyone confirm if these will fit. The specs seem to be the same.

Here is part of a message I received a couple weeks ago
from a friend looking for a spare for his coach. I had given him
the 27994 number I got from the GMC list.
He was not notified of discount for large purchase. It
is my understanding the 27994 wheel fit. See below
message. Note our hub diameter is 4.560. I have checked that.
I have also been told that some of the Chevy Truck wheels
will not clear the Brake caliper on our front wheels. But this
can be remedied with a little grinding on the caliper. No first
hand knowledge here either. If you go for them let us
all know how you come out.

Charles, thanks for your reply.

I think the thing to do is to measure the ID of the GMC wheel and compare this dimension to the one from Southewest wheel. I'll do that tonight and I'll post my results.

Thanks again,
Jon

Here are the spec on the wheels we use:

160231 and 160232 Wheel Specifications

Size Bolt Circle Bolt Hole Dia. Inches Hub Bore Dia. Inches Backspace Inches Offset Max Wheel Load Pounds

16x6 8 - 6.5" .670 4.567 8.150 5.150 2780

On top of all of this you need to still make sure that the wheel will clear the front brake calipers.

Note that the correct center hole for us is 4.567 if you are worried about hub centering.

Have you talked to Jim K. about Eagle aluminum wheels?
