Emery,

I'm going with your design but I can't use the same hinges you did. The
countertop is particle board and I feel I need to use piano hinge. I will
make a swing out support and attach it to the side of the cabinet with piano
hinge also (it's 1/8" thick plywood).

Regards,
Rob

Since it has to pull out around a sink it cannot have a countertop on it.
It will have to be a countertop that drops into it after it is pulled out so
the top surface height will not be a problem. The problem will be where to
store the drop in top.

My hinges held fine in the particle board and the thickness of the cutting board made it self supporting -- that is until about a year later someone was visiting us in our motorhome at a GMC convention and the fellow leaned on the board and put a lot of his weight on it. It pulled one hinge out and cracked the formica on the side of the sink top. I patched it up the best I could and someday I will build another sink cabinet top. Meanwhile I fashioned a piece of wood that slides out (just like on the standard dinette table). This supports the board very well.

Emery,

I looked at your pictures and the countertop appears to be 1" or more thick
which made it self supporting.

The countertop in Double Trouble is 3/4" thick and I don't think it would
work.

Besides "the fellow" might be in my coach someday and forget what he did
leaning on yours and do the same thing to mine - I think I'll make the swing
out support! ;-)

Regards,
Rob
