Got my Ragusa screen door a week ago. Got around to installing it this
weekend.

There's a lot of tweaking and fiddling but I have it fitting pretty
well. No way I'm using the "bulb" weatherstripping that is supposed to
seal the hinge side of the door. Way to stiff..

Ran into a problem, though. My coach is an oddball '73. The latch is
like nothing I've seen on any other GMC. Almost wondering if a PO
hadn't replaced it in the past.

Big problem is I'm missing the "bumper" that the screen door is supposed
to latch onto. Can I get someone to take a picture of what's supposed
to be there? I might be able to fab something up or maybe even buy a
spare from Michael or someone.

TIA,
Kelvin

Kelvin,
Very early 73 coach handle --- see Bill Bryant's photo album

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=7378&cat=3475

He also shows the retrofit -- which is what is on my coach. I presume with the retro thye also changed the fixed edge trim to include the metal rolled edge by the latch -- later coaches had a rubber cover over this piece. JimK sells the rubber cover.

Photoshop from a few years ago. I'll do a better job before I'm
actually ready to paint (which I really want to do soon)
The scheme will stay the same. Colors will be Subaru Forester silver
and olive.

The stripes are inspired by my other vintage passion...

As the Elkhart Lake Road America Vintage Race Weekend is coming up, I especially liked the GMCs on the track! Great Photoshop! Is that actually the Nurburgring or another racetrack? I didn't recognize it.

Like you, my other passion is vintage sportscars (Porsches in my case since they accomodate heavy, old people better than the Japanese or Italian sportscars)!

As far as I know that's for real. I just stole someone else's photos.
No idea where it is.

Interesting stuff in that album. I have some of it. Very few rivets,
however. My parts must have bonded well.

Turns out Ragusa has the part I need for $12. It replicates the later
metal part for us early coach owners. And of course you need to have
the rubber piece, too. Same $28 that JimK charges.

They're not charging me for the $12 part or the replacement wweather
stripping that I cut too short. :^)

Nice guys at Ragusa. Pretty cool door, too - once you beat it into
submission...

Kelvin
