I just spent more than an hour trying to access one of the bolts on the engine's front pulley in order to turn over the engine manually before starting it.
Not much room to get in there without removing the fan shroud and it looks like it will be easier to get to the ring gear on the flywheel instead. Is there a secret way to get to those bolts that I am missing?
Before I crawl under the rear of the engine, it would be nice to know if the ring gear access panel is on the starter/passenger side of the engine or somewhere else.
Thanks. Ralph - 26' Glacier

After you clean the timing mark area, use
"White-Out" to mark the timing mark on the
harmonic damper (or whatever it's called)
and also the desired advance point on the
"pointer bar."

Replace the OEM fan shroud contraption with a fiberglass one from Frank
Jenkins or Bert & Faye Curtis. If not alread split, split it in two
(horizontally with angle flanges to screw together). Now you should be able
to remove the lower 1/2 shroud in <5 min. and make everything on the front
of the engine easy to access.

That is the best mod I ever did to my coach. It took an engine fire to get me to replace it.

that shroud really is an over engineered contraption. Anyhoo, if the 1-1/8 socket doesn't fit, clean all the crap off of the bolt head first!!!
