Gotta give those boys credit, they have actually built and flown their aero-car. Moeller (of Supertrapp Muffler fame)has been trying for years to get his "aerocar" to do more than tethered flight simulations, and I haven't heard much of his creation for a long time.
However, there is quite a big difference in building a prototype and actually building and delivering product, so I think we will have to keep waiting to see when they actually appear on the road. They certainly should be fun!

As Jay Leno said in the case of the Prius; "It's so the owner can say 'hey, I'm driving an ugly car, but I'm saving the planet'".

And the 50+mpg of the Prius starts to fall off as the batteries
deteriorate. I rented the Prius when I was doing interior graphics at the
Toyota dealerships - so I always showed up in my rented Prius. On one trip
I did dealerships in NY, NJ, Pennsylvania and Conneticut - Always averaged
50mpg. Now. as the cars age and the batteries start to go, a local Toyota
tech I know said that the customers complain about the mileage drop off -
then he explains that the car depends more and more on the gasoline engine
to compensate for the batteries failing. The customer really gets upset
when they hear the price of a new set of batteries. Initially Toyota was
giving a 50% discount on replacing the batteries - which made battery
replacement very affordable at just over $1,000!

How do you save the planet with better fuel economy, add up the polution it takes to make a new 3k dollor battery pack every 3-4 yrs. And to transport,recycle the old one. Agree with the Saturn. We have a Saturn Vue - smaller SUV. And now Saturn
has gone out of business. I think the payback on the Prious was calculated
to be close to 10 years IIRC.
