Hey Folks That Have Installed the RCC;
I'm in the process of installing the Rostro Cruise Control. My
coach doesn't have the original CC, so it doesn't have the speedometer
cable going from the trans to the CC Actuator and the other one from
the CC Actuator back to the speedometer. I just have a single
speedometer going from the trans to the speedometer. I have to install
the speed sensor someplace, and it's suppose to go between the two
original speedometer cables. Can I install this speed sensor to the
trans between the trans and the single speedometer cable? I have
headers, and this puts this plastic speed sensor between the driver's
side header and the engine block. I'm worried that this thing might
get to hot to work or it might melt (which means it got to hot to
work). Or am I just worrying for nothing? Any ideas? Thanks.

Tie the cable close to the trans cooler line and also use a Insulating
shield tube over it.

I mounted mine down at the trans like you want to do. I also have headers. I wrapped the transducer and some of the cable with foam backed aluminum tape. Then I also fashioned a sheet metal (actually aluminum) heat shield between the taped up cable and the header. I've never had a problem with it.

It might be a bit of a pain to get to but, you could probably mount the sensor between the speedometer and the cable inside the dashboard.

Nope, the speedometer end's a different fitting so don't waste time pulling
the cowling.
I, too have had a VSS mounted at the governor for a couple of years with no
problem. When the 455 was installed I had it wrapped in thermal wrap but
with the Cad500, there's more clearance from the exhaust manifold so it's
unprotected.

Mine, for one. No evidence of a factory cruise control in my coach. I have a Rostra sitting in a box, but so far the only part of it I have installed is the turn-stalk switch.

Hi Gary
Here is an installation hint for you.
Running the cruse control to the brake light switch can lead to problems due to the bulbs in the braking system as well as possible poor grounds on the bulb sockets.
Most instructions call for connecting a wire to the cold side of the Brake Lite Switch. If yours is
connected this way, then remove the wire from the Brake Switch &
connect it thru the original cruise control Dump switch to chassis ground. The
original cc Dump switch is located just above the Brake Switch & has a
PINK and a BROWN wire attached to it. Cut both Pink & Brown wires a few
inches from the Dump Switch connector (you may have already cut the pink
wire or removed the connector from the switch). Connect the ground wire from replacement cruise control
to the Pink wire of the connector & attach the BROWN wire to a GOOD chassis
ground. When you press on the brake peddle, the dump switch will open &
the ground is removed, which will make the cruise control drop out.

The latest advice is to have the speed sensor away from the distributor and
the spark plug wires as they feel it might cause the unit to drop .
