Folks, I just installed my 9260. I got the pendant. When the coach is not plugged into the shore, the charge circuit is still active, as the LED still flashes. Anyone know if this will discharge my batteries, and how long will it take? I wasn't intending on keeping the coach plugged in all the time. I may put a disconnect switch on my batteries in the now empty power compartment. This thing is 25% of the size of the buzz box that may make a nice anchor for my boat.

Mine does the same thing, and I don't plug in to shore power very often. Yes, I do have a battery disconnect in the generator compartment on the battery cover that I switch off when I park the beauty for more than a few days.

I don't know about discharge, though.

I recently posted about the same thing on my 9245. I measured about 7 milliamps current with everything shut off. Disconnecting the flashing pendant dropped it to about 3 milliamps. Haven't had a chance to totally disconnect the output of the PD yet to see if it drops to zero.

I put a battery isolator in line with the PD unit. Maybe this will keep all the batteries from drifting down together.

Randy,

I'm a bit confused by that statement. Are you saying that you've connected
an isolator, like that between the alternator and the batteries, between the
converter and the batteries? I presume the purpose of that is to allow both
the house and the chassis batteries to be charged from the converter.

Trouble is, neither of them will ever reach full charge because of the ~0.7
VDC forward voltage drop across the isolator's diodes. That's why the
alternator is equipped with a remote sensing lead connected downstream of
the isolator diodes.

You'd be better off with a combiner, which will charge both batteries from
any connected power source but will disconnect them from each other when the
power source drops below the required voltage for charging to occur.

Maybe I misunderstood your statement?

Depends where it is parked. Right now It is parked in the street or my driveway. All I need is some dumbass tripping over the cord across the sidewalk and I have a lawsuit.

Eventually I will have it in covered storage with a plug.

Chris: The load is so tiny it will never discharge the batteries in any time you let it sit. I have a PD in an SOB trailer and it flashes away for 5 months all winter while I am in Arizona. I do not leave it plugged in when gone. It is a not to worry item in my opinion.

I posted the same thing on a previous thread. 7 ma. is nothing. Most modern cars have a computer on line all the time and they draw slightly less than 20 ma.

My coach was unplugged all winter with the house battery still connected. The PD was lit all winter. I think I started the generator two or three times over the winter, no issues.

In the spring I left one bathroom light left on. Two weeks later I tried to start the generator, dead. I discovered the light switch on. So that two weeks of incandescant bulb completely drained the house battery.
