Hi Jay,

I found that this pump installs easily by removing the fitting from the booster (leave the rubber bushing in place) and insert the large fitting on this pump in its place. Now put the hose that was on the fitting going to the booster on the smaller fitting on the pump, hook up the electronics and you are done. I supported the unit with heavy wire ties but the large barb fitting going into the rubber bushing on the booster locates and holds it quite securely. Easy, fast and out of the way. There is a built in delay of about 5 to 10 seconds from the time the engine dies until this unit turns on so just hold your foot on the brake until it comes on and replenishes the vacuum. Nice unit.

Jerry

Finally getting around to installing my aux vac pump (JC4 from Applied) - or attempting to. Bought some PB Blaster to loosen the very rusty bolts on the booster so I can hang the JC4 bracket. Went to NAPA to get vac hose, but the largest they had was 3/8 and it wouldn't fit. Came home and measured the hose barbs on the pump, and now I'm really confused. The one that points tangential to the pump rotation (presumably the suction) measures about .630". The one that points perpendicular to the pump axis measures .540" Yet I understood this thing was supposed to go inline in the hose that runs from the manifold to the booster, so that kind of requires the same size hoses on input & output.

Can anybody clarify this for me?

Thanks
