The motor ran great when the fuel was not boiling. Water temps always under 200, never heard the fan come on, even going 70 mph in 110 Texas heat while towing. Oil temps went above 220 maybe one time. Trans stayed at 200. Aluminum radiator, oil and trans coolers, new motor. It all can work.
The New Orleans KOA, while nice is very far from the French Quarter, contrary to their advertisements.
Need to make heat shields for gas tanks, figure out transmission and one last thing: with the 4 way flashers on (used maybe twice climbing very steep hills) the electric brake controller for the trailer engaged! Gotta fix that.
All in all, over 5,000 miles with no real issues.

To answer the mpg question, when I did check, it was something like 6.4 mpg. I am not sure how you factor in the effect of fuel boiling on mpg. Or going 70 mph towing with a 3.70 final drive. It sure did run good.
The wife was as content as she ever is. The dash a/c worked. I had modified it to recirculate and had a curtain behind the front seats to hold the cool air up front. The back of the coach would get very hot.
I had a blast. We do use the coach a lot, in winter driving to the desert with off road cars or up to Aptos for beach camping and in the summer motorcycle trips to Sturgis, but this was the first real for real cross country ride.

Neil, next time in New Orleans, stay at Bayou Signette State Park. There is a fresh fish market not far from there, and lots of stores nearby, and it is only 18 minutes by toad to the French Quarter. That is where we stay when we go down there to visit the daughter.

Or if you want to be near the French Quarter and the River, there is the French Quarter RV park 2 blocks off the I10 and 5 blocks from Bourbon St.

It is a REALLY nice place, BUT it ain't cheap! IIRC it was $60-$80 a night
depending on the day of the week (went up on weekends).

Rob M.
