Turn your air conditioner to MAX.
Try that and see if that opening doesn't now suck air into it.

In MAX you recirculate about 80 tp 90 % of the air.
I have blocked off the outside opening on my air box above the blower mount and i have made a little block of wood that is now wedged under the flapper in the air recirculating opening so that my interior air is constantly 100% recirculating. It gets the inside cooler.

Reread the message that I sent to you eariler. I said it was a
recirculating opening and that it would SUCK AIR INTO IT.

Hold a tissue paper near it when in MAX and you will see that it
works. Don't let go of the tissue or it will end up in your blower fan
cage.

it's not uncommon for those doors to stick or the vacuum hose or diaphragm to break. there are other doors up inside that also control air flow to the heater and defroster. check your vacuum lines.

He door moves by hand so I'm thinking a vacuum line or diaphragm
