I'm looking for a ball park figure of what I should be paying for Motorcycle
insurance on my 1950 Panhead. Had m/c license for over 40 years, no
accidents or convictions for over 10 years. Value of bike approx $15,000.
I'm looking for liability plus fire and theft.

All seem to be looking for about $400 a year, which makes no sense as I only
pay $166 a year for full and complete coverage on my 911 Porsche...

Your thoughts please....thanks!

Your Porsche doesn't tip over when you forget to put your foot down!

;<p)

Sorry, but I have no idea as to what to expect in Canada for costs.
Full coverage for my 2000 FLTRSEI and wife's 2007 FXDL was $943 when
I renewed in January 2010 through Progressive.

I don't know if Grundy world wide does motorcycles but they are pretty cheap insuring classic and hotrod cars. Your motorcycle would certainly be considered a classic and they have agreed amount insurance. www.grundy.com or 800 338 4005.

Check out Markel America Insurance Co. 800 236 2453. I have full coverage on 2002 Road King and liability on 91 Softail for $179 per year. Some like Progressive but I wouldn't buy spit from them because I don't like their chairman's politics but thats just me.

I have two older motorcycles insured as collector items. They cost me $100 total per year for both. This is full declared agreed value and full liability.

1. They must be at least 25 years old.
2. They must be parked inside at an address that you list with them. I used my hanger for the garage site and address.
3. They must not be used for daily transportation. You must list another vehicle as your normal use vehicle.
4. You have to send them photos of the bike being insured.

If you can live with all of that then I'll find the name of the company for you. They are in Wisconsin. The name is something like Continental Western.

Everybody at my Two Wheel Tuesday group uses them for their older bikes.

Mike;

Holy Geez, go pay the man!!

My bike insurance came this week. Like you, 40 yrs riding exp. no accidents or tickets, had insurance for a number of years.

the premium for my two Harleys, [ an 07 and an 09] came last week.

get this: 50% premium increase over last year on the 07, and a 50% increase over the premium quote I got for the 09 when I bought it in April and added it to my policy!

So, pal, that's now over $1200 each!.

The insurance broker gave me the usual, 'Oh, the losses, we've suffered sir!' [crocodile tears go here!]

So, I'm sorry that I can't quite see your problem......

But good luck with it anyway.

Mike, you might check Hagerty. I use them on my Mustang and pretty cheap.
I have Progressive on the Chinese scooter. Ins is high, 100 bux for liability. I dropped it last year and did not ride it but got it again now.

Question for the net. " If the pioneers had a GOVERNMENT that required them
to show proof of financial responsibility, and losses against fire from
flaming arrow attacks, would they have ever ventured west of the
Mississippi?"

Mike, while at a car show yesterday I asked the same question. Found that some of my friends have switched from Hagerty to Gieco. I need to do some checking around.

Gieco lost me 30 years ago by increasing my rate every six months for 2 years with no tickets or claims.

I'll never consider them again. Just a case of, "Fool me once...."

Your experience may vary. (I like the commercials as entertainment.)
