Thanks

ahhhh yes, a continuing saga

this depends upon the master cyl you are using, and how you mount the master
cyl. Here are some

http://gmcmotorhome.info/master%20cyl.html

what was the old one? and what was the master cyl?

it ended up being a failed master cylinder, that was leaking out the rear.
Probably the original one. My good friend (GMC mechanic) brought a "power
bleeder" over and made really quick work of flushing the entire system.

Once the wheels were off, we saw two other problems. A loose ball joint bolt
had struck the CV joint and ripped the boot and band.
On the other wheel it looks either a loose axle nut, or a failed wheel
bearing.

Pulling the old exhaust out today!

Most likely it would do "bad things" to your brakes.

The rod is sized to have a SLIGHT gap when no pressure is on the petal allowing the master cylinder to fully return to rest. If you have a rod that is to long, it may not fully release the brakes and/or refill the cylinder with fluid. It also could over drive the piston into areas of the cylinder that normally do not see use... causing additional wear on the seals. -- All bad things.

NOW... _IF_ someone has changed some of the parts in your system with non-oem parts and there isn't the correct gap at the end of the rod, it should be fixed. If you DO have to much gap, fixing it will give you a higher petal.

Larry;

GM # 5469384, rod asm

As you can see, it is an old number. The one I have is still in the original package.
