And check bdub's site for links to several vendors that offer under dash, under the steering column gauge mounts.

Or mount them to the left of your dash with a universal mount.

You know, I've been thinking about this, and how I would love to have a Mac dash, and so on, but the multi-gauge cluster from GM is a terrifically efficient use of space. I like having all three gauges in one place, but I have not seen a nice substitute for this.

Has anyone seen a good layout like the multi-gauge?

Larry,
This is a little pricey, but it's a combination of a 4 in 1 gauge (fuel, water temp, oil pressure, volts) and a 2nd unit with speedo/tach combined. You can also get the 4-1 separate, and use a different (and cheaper) speedo only. The speedo/tach combo is a little pricey, but I the 4-1 gauges are $150 - $180. They have a lot of different versions of these available. The link is for Autometer's at Summit, they also have a house brand one, and different colors/finishes for the Autometer one's.

Craig,

That's nice, but it seems to me that having the needle swing on the radius of the dial rather than pointing inward is more legible. I think GM nailed it with the gauges - although I would like to have an ammeter and a proper temperature gauge with numbers.

These are some of the gauges I have, Plan to remove them from the case and install individually. They are inexpensive and from what I have read, very good.

I really like the panel that Gene has, would like to see it finished with gauges installed. hint hint

Hi Richard,

Although I would LOVE to get the Mac Dash, we settled on adding some gauges for now (please see the link).

I also bought an underdash panel for my Dad's GMC to re-install his gauges a bit more neatly, but he won't let me put it in!

I purchased an underdash panel from the Curtis's for my lowered steering wheel, and the space allows for quite a few guages. I mounted an ammeter, voltmeter, temperature guage, vacuum guage, and an air pressure guage along mine, but you could mount whatever guages you would like. I also used the SunPro guages, and they seem to work fine (J.C. Whitney carries them as well).

Though they are not directly in your line of sight, they are all visable and can be checked when needed. My coach is a '75, so it's the early style dash. I know the later coaches have a different underdash panel, and the one I used may not fit the later coaches.

Gene, once again, the Lone Ranger to the rescue. Had not seen that dash Panel before and did not know they were available. I really liked the Dash in Jim Garmins Coach but my pocket book is too thin.
Will try to contact Mr Jenkins.

What kind of underdash panel, what are you going to do with it now, is it for sale?

I bought AutoMeter Gauges and installed a vacuum gauge to the top center between the big OEM speedo and other large tri gauge.
Then installed a trans temp gauge below it. To the right of the dash gauges I installed a three guage set up with engine temp, oil pressure and voltage gauge. All straight forward and working will for the past four years. Oh, and a small Sunpro II tach on the column. Wish I could think of something to to do with the now wasted space where the useless OEM gauges now sit disconnected.

I placed my gauges on top of the dash. It is a lot easier to keep up with than putting it on the below the dash. It does not affect the ability to see.

I'm tall and can't afford some of the newer options. I also disliked the gauges down low where I had a hard time seeing them. I took a nice piece of wood, about 18"x 3" and bored 2 1/'8" holes for six gauges in it. Painted to match and installed the gauges. Put Velcro on bottom of wood and top of dash and mounted there. I made a hole in the sloped part of the floor and brought the necessary lines up through there, with a grommet to protect them.
I can now see all the gauges just by glancing down without taking my eyes off the road. Works for me.

Since I'm on a pretty tight budget, i purchased pods from www.glowshift.com,
bought color changing gauges from www.harborfreight.com, and mounted to the top of the dash.

Works great, less than $100 for everything. I can upload some pics if you would like to see the finished project.

I would love to see pictures of the different Dash addons. Pictures are much better than words, although I do appreciate you guys talking to me and others. <vbg>
