Went camping. Nothing Broke. Boring post.

Drove from home near Springfield IL to Red Hills State Park near Sumner IL, was about 170 miles each way. One of my brothers & SIL were camping there in their popup, and my parents stayed in the "rent a cabin". My other two brothers each visited but did not stay overnight. It was a nice family camp out, which is something we have rarely done.

While this was not the first time we have gone camping in the coach, it was the first time we had hot & cold running water and working toilet and shower. That made it much more pleasant. I did learn that my macerator hose probably needs to be a little longer.

My mother is the eternal pessimist and I heard no end of "Are you sure that old thing will make it here/home?" It did Smile

We went down on Thursday and came home Sunday. I drove through Effingham both days. I know Dan and Teri were there for the VW event, but I think they were there Friday and Saturday, so did not get to meet up.

Coming home, the "Hot Rod Magazine's Power Tour" was going through Springfield IL, and several classic cars were on display. We had several people noticing the coach as we drove through town, next to the streets were the cars were displayed. We also met several cars cruising outside Springfield. A bunch of vehicles older than the one I was driving was a nice way to end the trip.

There is still much to do to my GMC, but a trip like this was a great confidence builder.

Paul,

That sounds awesome! I love to hear stories like that. In almost two years of ownership, my wife and I have had no trouble on the road with our GMC. We have put about six or seven thousand miles on it by now and I am pretty confident that it will provide years of reliable service, as long as I provide the services it needs.

Congratulations on the successful trip!

Great Paul. I enjoy hearing about folks' travels. We are still in Effingham. Waiting for the Power Tour to stop here at Mid America tomorrow. We plan to follow them down to DuQuoin. Should be fun. Wish you could have stopped by today.

Great report, Paul. Lots of bonuses--no mechanical problems, running into
the Power Tour, and proving to others your coach is still dependable.
Enjoy!

A little off the topic but a friend took his 34 ft pace arrow on a trip from his home in Northern Nevada to the East coast and back last week. Well almost he got as far as Palm Springs and blew the V 10 Ford engine. The fool never thought to check his oil on the trip. That my friends cost him $10,000 +. He said I looked under the coach and there wasn't any oil leaks can't imagine where the oil went? That was probably a 5 or 6 thousand mile trip! Too bad the coach only had 24,000 miles on the clock.

Your posts are pretty boring already!!! Laughing

Just kidding. Razz

Your trip to Montana was pretty trouble free, wasn't it?

Looking forward to reading about your trip east with that other guy's coach!

After all, you usually drive six wheelers that belong to someone else that have 100,000's of thousands of miles on them anyway, eh?
