G’day,

Spotted this on eBay and thought it might make a good temporary repair until
you could get some “good boots” from Jim B or Jim K!

Got my outers, Inners are on backorder from JimK. I've never thought much of split boots other than as an emergency repair.

Ihave tried them twice

I found they were old stock, and aftrer all the work,,they just fell apart..

I would rather do the Bob Drews trick:

or shoe-goo with some fiberglass for a patch.

I've used split boots with mixed success. The trick is in keeping the boot joint operating room clean until you get the glue in and clamped together...in that environment a very difficult task. Once glued together, use zip ties to hold it together over night. *IF* you can get it glued with out dirt or grease getting in the joint, they seem to hold up pretty good. Doing it is such a tedious task that I have given up trying the split boots and just take the time to put in the "sticky" boots that the Jim's sell. Also, when you clamp the boot down to the CV, I have found that they hold best if you can get the CV and the boot...at the contact point...squeaky clean. If there is grease between the CV and the boot, the likelyhood that it can slip off is greater. Just what I've found...

Steve,
I'll look into the back order. They are always stocked.
