Funny, I don't hear much on the Net about Golby or Cinnebar, well,
nothing very positive. I don't have any experience with them, but they
certainly cater to us.

We talk frequently, and positively, about many of our vendors, but I just
don't hear a lot about Cinnebar or Golby. Any reason why?

Golby and Cinnabar are somewhat aloof toward their customer base. Once
when the Sunshine Statesmen were having a rally in the Keys we spotted a
GMC as we entered the CG and a delegation went over to invite the
occupants to join us. The occupant was Golby and gave our club members
the 'cold shoulder'. I don't actually know of anyone who does business
with Golby. Years ago I had to buy a knuckle from him because he wouldn't
sell it to Jim B, where my coach was being repaired.

As for Cinnabar, I've had no experience with them altho I could never get
any cooperation from Wes with regard to the GMC Registry. He just said he
didn't know why we had one and didn't see any value. That was 15 years
ago. I suspect he hasn't changed his mind altho I haven't spoken with him
since.

Zeb Frady is another shop who doesn't seem to court GMC owners. As a
result Zeb and Cliff Golby do a lot more non GMC RV service compared to
Applied, Coop and Sirums who are GMC dedicated shops. Sirums is not
active on the Net but both Alex and Jeff have always been active at the
club level.

The preceding is my opinion formed over a lot of years of fooling around
with the classic GMC motorhome.

OK, so I'll fess up, I was the one that broke the plan to have a vendor meeting, he would not sit at a table with me-- hey, I have a way with some people!  You guys must understand though that while some people are not visible here on the net, there are many other segments of the market to cater to.  Jim K. and I are involved because we are like you, GMC enthusiasts and we are here because of that.  I come here mainly to help out, it has less to do with being a major part of my business and more about I feel comfortable here.  Do not vilify those that do not see you guys as a primary market and get involved with you.  I have to say my market is elsewhere myself.  I'm just nuts enough to be here for a different reason!

I will tell you this though, I work hard for those that support me and I have had good support from you guys even though it has not been turned into that many sales-- hey, thats OK-- I would rather have you all as friends than customers if that is what it will be.  Jim K. sells more stuff to you guys-- why I guess it's just his pretty legs!

I think vendors who do not particiapte are missing something because I feel that when push will someday come to shove, I hope I have made enough relations with you guys for you to support efforts I make and that is actually reason enough for me to be here.

Each vendor has things they add to the collective, even the ones mentioned that you do not see that much.  Together we all are here to help the community and maybe some of us don;t see eye to eye with other vendors-- oh well, sometimes some people are just hard to love!  Tell me it's different in any other circle.

Larry,

There is a history why Golby's attitude is what it is. I won't get into it since other people probably know more about it than I do.

Jim B., I buy from both of you and sollicet free advise all the time. It seems to me that you and the forgetful one on the West side always find time to put up with the questions. We"ll see you soon for an alignment when I visit my son in Orlando. I can speak on the quality of both of your parts and the new Quadrabag system that was co-developed. It lives up to the claims and is truly a thing of beauty. After much horse trading with that other Jim for one. It was surprising how good all the parts fit. Hell I think I'll leave the tee skirts off so others can admire it. The Gmc community would miss both of you a great deal, so please don"t hang up anytime soon...
