One thing to consider that we're wrestling with:
A straight 12 volt fridge uses MUCH less 12 volt power than a gas/12volt or gas/12volt/110ac fridge when running on 12 volts.
We're talking roughly 3 amps DC vs around 14 amps. A 2-way gas/110 also uses about 1.2 amps DC for controls.
So if you can use LP, great, it works fine. But if you want to primarily use 12 volts, your options
are more limited. I've found a number of marine fridges (eg Isotherm) that would work, but you have to be careful
they're air cooled, not seawater cooled.

Another issue is our 2-way 110/gas fridge can't be run while we're driving unless we leave the gas turned on.
Hard to justify replacing since it's not very old, but not what we'd have chosen. On the up side, it's very
quiet compared to a 110/12-volt compressor fridge.

The Tundra/Vitrifrigo refrigerators are built as 24/12 VDC units.
The biggest (8 cu ft) draw about 4A on 12V DC and 2A on 24V DC.
They only operate on 120V AC by adding an AC-to-DC power supply
to convert shore power to 24V DC (more efficient on 24 than 12).

My 8 cu ft Tundra has gone bad (compressor not running) and when
I get the new Vitrifrigo replacement installed, I will bring the
Tundra home to see if I can get it fixed locally (no technicians
willing to work on ANY fridges where the boat is). I will either
replace the unknown Norcold Gas/120V unit in Money Pit or use it
in the garage as a soda/beer fridge.

G'day,
Karen, have you considered running your fridge on 110v thru an inverter whilst traveling? We did this for years in our old bus, and it worked very well.
All said after having half a dozen or so different gas/ electric fridges in different motorhomes, our 12/24 volt fridge we have had in our GMC for the last 5+ years is fantastic. But I am also a solar fanatic!
