Thomas Edison was once asked if he had made any mistakes and he replied that he had not, but he had learned that there are about ten thousand things that don't work.
The local CSK autoparts (was Murray's here) have an AC Delco scissor jack number 34111. It is rated as a 2-ton jack. It should lift one corner.
It won't.
I had to change out the right front tire for the new wheel (thanks Craig), so I took advantage of the situation to find out that the above number could not lift the front right corner off a flat tire in any method that did not put either yours-truly or the jack at risk. I tried every placement I could imagine and the jack ran out of advantage very early in the lift.
It might be possible to do with additional handle length and extensions, but it was my intent to not risk damage to the jack - even cosmetic - so I could return it in good faith.
So, I am still looking for a jack to carry.
Did you know that if you have 3ea 9/16-18 nuts, you can carry two spares wheels on the standard carrier? (There is no other vehicle in our collection that can carry 2 GMC wheels and tires.)

Ok Matt now you have tandems and duals.
I'm carrying two small bottle jacks, ton and a half each.
